10 Point Check List That Will Have Your Facebook Fan Page Making Waves
You Want to Be Where Your Audience Is and Is Going
Your Facebook Fan Page is an integral part of your online marketing strategy. If you have not heard it before Facebook now has 500 Million users and the average user spends an average of 20 minutes per day twice a day on Facebook. This is a total of 40 minutes per user and I bet the amount of time that Facebook users stay on Facebook is climbing.
Build Your Authority and Your Personal Brand
If you are in business or would like to be I recommend creating a Facebook Fan Page to build your authority and build your personal brand. There is an abundance of excellent writers and social media mavens online that can steer you in the right direction. One of my favorites is Amy Porterfield. Amy is a social media strategist and a writer for the Social Media Examiner. One of her closest friends is Mari Smith a guru of all things Facebook. This alone is a hint of the caliber as a person and marketer that Amy Porterfield is in the area of social media and online marketing.
Become a Thought Leader by Hanging Out With Other Thought Leaders
I recommend to become a thought leader is to follow and engage with other thought leaders. Amy Poterfield is blazing a trail in social media so I wanted to share her 10 point check list for your Facebook Fan Page.
Just watched an excellent video that Amy created outlining the 10 key points to be sure to have in place on your fan page.
I like her video because she shares herself by speaking directly to the camera but breaks up her 10 points with graphics and sound to separate and let you know she is on to her next point in her 10 point check list for fan page.
Call To Action
She covers all the all important call to actions on your fan page. The first call to action on your Fan Page is to ask people to like your page by clicking the like button.
Fully Utilizing What I Like To Call Your Vision Box
I also appreciate that she covers the importance of what I call the mission or vision box on the upper left hand side under your picture on your Facebook Fan Page. Amy also covers a myriad of ways you can optimize your box for getting your message out to your readers.
Customizing Your Facebook Fan Page
She covers how the static FBML application which stands for mark up language allows you to customize your Facebook Fan Page and make it like a website plus have it match the branding of your blog and other social media platforms.
Your All Important Subscription Box
Amy demonstrates the importance of having a subscription box on your fan page to fully utilize your page for your list building and furthering the building of relationships with your followers. Of course creating a good offer to offer value to your fans.
Optimizing Your Facebook Tabs
Amy covers how to determine which tabs to feature on your page and why. She also gives some great examples. You only have so much Facebook real estate so use your tabs wisely.
Experiment Plus Great Facebook Applications
Test, Test and Test. Your Facebook pages are dynamic so it is easy to make changes. She gives some great examples as well. Social Plugin on Facebook allows your fans to like your offering. Another application is FAQs. What a fabulous way to communicate with your fans and answer their most frequently asked questions. Another resource is appbistro for more fun and amazing applications. You can also check out their fan page on Facebook.
Facebook Ready, Higher Integration With Facebook From Your Blog
Take your website/blog to total Facebook integration. A great example of this is Jesse at Stay N’ Alive site. Jesse has Facebook login and connect right on his website. You can access your Facebook page by simply engaging with his website. This is super social and a great example of what can be done with this higher level of Facebook integration with your website/blog. You will become apart of his most recent activity and a person could come to his site and click on your picture to discover more about you. Networking taken to the next level.
Any activity your do on this site in this example shows up on your Facebook Newsfeed then taking that activity and networking to the next level. All this adding up to greater exposure.
Do You Have a Plan?
Why are you in business? How often do you want to post and what is your overall social media/Facebook marketing strategy? Amy poses some great questions to get you on the right track.
Get an Administrator for Your Page
The importance whether this is you or someone else is that you or they love connecting and serving others. The more interactive the better.
Get All the Details
Amy Porterfield’s video does a great job of detailing these points and giving examples both on websites and on Facebook.

Building a Facebook Fan Page is great, but you should also pay attention to Google+ Pages. Google is the internet, so it will be a great way to at least build your Google+ presence now and not later

Faith, this 10 point check list is exactly that – on point. I don’t know how many times Ive told my customers the importance of building their brand on Facebook – many thing all you need to do is throw the page up and everyone is going to run with their wallets open. Building authority and familiarity is key to success with Fan Pages.
