Videos that Connect and Get Found on the Web

Creating Videos that Connect with Your Audience and Get Found on the Web

Be Yourself, Be Authentic

There is only one you, don’t attempt to be like someone else just be yourself. Share your style and your personal branding and your authentic self will shine through. People know when we are not being ourselves so relax and celebrate that you having something to offer in a way no one else can. Your audience is seeking you so you only need to show up and offer the best value in your unique way.

Get Your Video Seen By Your Target Audience

Create a Great Title

Just as in blog posts title’s carry a tremendous amount of weight. Create a great video Title and it can pull in a huge amount of traffic. You want your Titles to be optimized for both human interest and search engine optimization. Use your key words in the title of your video and create Titles that are catchy and interesting.

Remember Google owns Youtube so you can see there is a definite connection between video and searched content. When posting your videos,I recommend that you post them to youtube. Use a Key word rich title that is catchy, use key words in the description of the video and use the proper key words and tags when posting your videos.

Be Interesting, Informative, Funny and Provide How To Content

Two of the most sought after areas content on the internet is content that is funny and content that provides how to information. Position yourself as a thought leader and trusted advisor in your area of expertise. All of this continues to grow your brand.

Keep Your Videos Short

Because our time is valuable and attention spans are shortening keep your videos targeted focused and no more than 3- 4 minutes. In late, 2009 ComScore found that the average video online is 3.8 minutes in length.

Borrow From Hollywood

In the beginning keep your videos simple. Simply talk to the camera and have a background that does not distract from you. Keep it simple until you are super comfortable.

Perfectionism is Not a Virtue and Will Only Hold You Back

The more videos you do the more comfortable you will become. Do not be a perfectionist. Just shoots a lot of videos. Once you become more comfortable start to borrow from Hollywood. Mix it up with videos that have movement and where you change the camera angles.

Shoot a video when you are out on the town, in your car, or at an event. By mixing up your surroundings in your videos and your camera angles you will be telling a story and keeping the attention of your viewers.

Share Your Personal Story

Do an day and your life video. Where you live, your hobbies, taking a walk, shoot it all. Give your audience a glimpse of your life. They will come to know you and want to do business with you.

Show Your Life and Business Transformations

If you are starting online from humble beginnings, share that with your audience. You will find your audience is overwhelmed with encouragement that if you can do it so can they. As you progress in your business and in your life, share your story of transformation through video.

Include Your URL in Your Video

Our goal as online marketers is to create a web of content on the internet. You want your videos on youtube and other video sharing sites to lead back to your blog and in some cases your fan page on Facebook. Remember you are leading bread crumbs everywhere for your audience and readers to find you, continue to engage and ultimately join your list. Videos help you stand out and get found and build a bond between your followers and you.

Continue Your Personal and Company Branding Through Video

You can have your company logo prominently displaced on your videos as well. You can display your logo throughout your videos or just at key times.

On Yourtube and Other Video Sharing Sites Always Provide Your HTML link

You will always have a description box when you post your videos to youtube. Always include first your html link to your blog or landing page prior to the description of the content in your video.

Go Beyond Youtube

You want to send your videos to numerous video sharing sites. A great way to do this is through Tubemogul. This is a great service and you can set up an entry level account for free.

Plus by first posting your videos to Youtube and then posting the videos you have posted at Youtube to your blog takes it to the next level. Youtube notices views and when you have your videos both at youtube and your blog you have more opportunity for views of your videos. The more views the better your search results will be for your video content with Google.

You can also post your videos at Youtube to your Facebook wall and Fan Pages.

Super Charge Your Video Marketing Strategies

Create a series of videos on a particular area of content. Now you are going beyond stand alone videos. As you release a videos in a series you will be continuing to build your brand while creating synergy around your content.

Always Include a Call to Action

Always have a call to action at the end of your videos. It could be to leave a comment, subscribe to your newsletter, to get access to another more content rich video.

Be Content and Value Driven

Rise above the rest. Yes, you want to sell your products and services but do it by offering value, defining and solving a problem and offering a solutions and supporting others. From a place of service you will naturally attract those who want and need what you are offering.

Basic Key Word Strategies

To optimize your videos use your key words in the title, the description and the tags. When posting your youtube videos to your blog use your text as a ‘kind of map’ for Google. To help the search engines figure what your videos are about embed your videos into text pages on your site that are relevant to your video.

Target Key Word Phrases Not Just Key Words

Target key word phrases not just key words. For example instead of just using the word pasta for an organic Italian Restaurant that is doing some marketing say organic pasta.

Ideas that Will Spark Your Video Creativity

Educate

Share a powerful strategy, skill or even your product or service. Remember to stress the benefits whether is be a product or a marketing strategy.

Answer Questions

Ask your readers for their questions and/or take your most frequently asked questions and create one video per question and answer the question. You can create a series and this will be very valuable for your readers.

Do Interviews

Interview people in your niche. Interviews are fun and informative and they will capture the interest of your viewers. We all love peaking in on conversations and getting to learn at the same time.

Do a product, service or company reviews

Do reviews on products, service or company. I love company reviews because if your marketing is home business then reviewing companies is a huge service for those attempting to decide which direction to go in and you build your authority as a thought leader and trusted advisor.

All Business Owners Need a List of Potential Clients or Distributors

Growing your list is essential in business. Make a video to encourage your prospects to give you their name and email address in exchange for something you will give them. We call this the ethical bribe. You can give away a free e-book, tips strategies and how to’s are always popular. Do a tutorial video, a free consultation, a type of assessment, etc. Figure out what your prospects would find most valuable and do a give away around that. ( A key point here, give away your best stuff, don’t hold back. You will earn their trust and in the long run you’ll be glad you did.)

Include Videos Testimonials from Your Clients and/or Business Partners/Distributors

Obtain videos from clients, business partners and/or distributors who have worked with you. This gives you big social proof of your authority and further builds your brand as a trusted advisor.

Case Studies and Results

Show what you did for a client or distributor. Share the success stories of your clients and give one particular example of how you solved a clients problem or offered great strategies to take their business to the next level. Share a case study of a distributor whom you coached to a whole new level of success. Share something concrete that made all the difference in their business.

Tell a Story

Stories move us on an emotional level. Stories are ingrained in our subconscious mind through the eons of story telling around the fire going back to the beginning of time. People love stories. Share your personal journey and story so you readers can better know and relate to you. Share a story and weave lessons into the story so you are offering a valuable take away for your viewers.

Debunk Myths

Talk about the three top myths in your profession or industry and give real examples to show they are truly just myths.

Take Your Viewers Behind the Scenes

Take your viewers outside of your office into your natural surroundings. If appropriate you can introduce your family, and show your audience what is important to you. Your values and your lifestyle. Share your business secrets, how you go about creating systems that support a successful business. Pull back the veil and how the inner workings of your life and your business.

Ask Questions and Answer Them

Video is a wonderful medium to ask questions of your viewers. What is most important to them as it pertains to your niche, what things do they want to know and what ways you can best serve your viewers.

Then personally answer the question in another video and ask your viewers to leave their own answers below, thus stimulating discussion.

Do Video Tutorials

You can do screen captures (ScreenFlow for Macs and Camtasia for PC’s are great options), slideshows, and use Keynote or PowerPoint slides to tell your story.

Again, Let Go of Perfection and My Challenge for You

I challenge you to create a video a day for 30 days. You will be amazed at how this builds your confidence. Create a list of topics that pertain to your niche. Remember to keep your videos short on average 3 minutes. Start with just simple videos with you speaking into the camera then add doing video outside, in your garden or while driving at events and the list goes on. Just shoot and produce videos.

Your challenge is to create a video a day for 30 days. Watch how this simple exercise transforms your confidence and your life.

Now it’s Your Turn

Do you have video marketing tips I didn’t mention in this post. I’d love to hear your ideas. Did any light bulbs go off in how you can more effectively create videos that connect with your audience and get found on the web.

    Faith,
WOW! You have really given us a wealth of information to remember and consider when it comes to using video. At times it can be a bit daunting to begin doing videos and then to come up with content for them. As you said, the more you do the more comfortable you get and with this as a resource there is so much more to give your viewers.

    Thanks Faith!
