This will be the first of a series of posts on the power of online video. In today’s post I focus on why you will want to get involved in this seismic online video marketing wave.
To Grow Your Personal Brand and Grow Your Business
Heard of Gary Vaynerchuk? If you don’t recognize his name you’ll probably recognize his best selling book, “Why Now is the Time to Crush It! Cash in on Your Passion. Gary was doing reasonably well with his dad’s liquor store and wine shop offline but when he took to using social media and taking his marketing online he chose video.
Gary started a Vlog which is a Blog with Video. He’s no dummy. He knew it was all about personal branding. He is earthy, uses a few four letter words and best of all he doesn’t fall into the category of the typical wine expert. Gary knows his wine but presents wine totally differently and he was able to quickly capitalize on what makes him different by using video as his main medium online.
The Search Engines Love Video Because People Love Video – Video is Where the People Are
Video is already the preferred form of content on the web. It is fairly obvious that video is the next best thing to being there and personal branding is king when it comes to social media. Forrester Research found that videos are 50 times more likely to receive an organic first page ranking than traditional text pages. You want your message where the eyeballs are.
Having Your Video Content Found for Free is Great
If you are not familiar with the terminology of organic searches, it means searches that occur for free there is not paid advertising in the case of an organic search. Google and the other search engines love video because people love video.
Making Videos and Posting Them Online is Inexpensive
If you have a limited budget or a shoe string budget for your online marketing video will give you the most mileage for your marketing. Not only is it inexpensive to create and post videos, your videos stay online forever. This is a big deal. Spending the money to post your video once and it could be still viewed in a year or two.
Social Media and Video Go Hand in Glove
Most Social Media Sites encourage and allow for the posting and sharing of videos.
Videos Can Go Viral
Few other forms of content have as much viral capability as Video. Viral video opportunities are endless when you use the right strategies to create and post your videos online.
If Your Shy Don’t Worry
When Shooting a video simply look into the camera the same way you would look into your friends eyes while having a relaxed conversation. You want to imagine you are simply having a conversation with a friend and you are sitting across from each other at a table. You are just having a conversation.
Video in the Social Media Landscape
Sharing content through social media which includes your blogging is all about being yourself, being authentic. It is about telling your story and not attempting to be too polished. It is by being yourself, offering great content and serving your audience that will make your videos shine. Yes, you can reshoot your videos to get them the way you want but make it a goal to do your videos in one take. They will be more real and not overly rehearsed.
People do not want informercials that is for TV, in social media authentic behavior is king. Be yourself and have fun.
Video is Within Reach of Everyone
You can get a great video camera for the web either in the Flip or the Kodak cameras. The only advantage of the Kodak is you can have a dedicated mike to take your sound quality up to the next level. Both cameras shoot beautiful videos and the latest version of the i-Phone also shoots high quality video. Both the Kodak and the Flip are under $200.00. You can get a lavaliere mike for under $50.00.
