Taking More Action By Change Your Focus
Taking more action is a matter of changing your focus and your associations. It has been said, we are more motivated as humans to avoiding our fears than attaining our desires and goals.
I found this post by Katie Frieling, thought provoking. If you are not familiar with Katie she is passionate about personal development, personal growth, and an expert in optimizing social media and online marketing. She is a gem and you can gain so much from her blog and the great content she provides.
Taking More Action, Harnessing the Power of Fear by Changing Your Associations
In Katie’s post and video she takes the time to dig behind what motivates us and how we can make that work to our benefit. When we operate unconsciously there is no hope for transformational change and progress. Simply by becoming aware of the power of fear in lives and our desire to avoid that which we are afraid of can be used as powerful tool through creating new associations.
Fear of Failure
Unfortunately our fear of failure often holds us back from taking action in moving our lives forward in the direction of our dreams. Whether it is feelings of unworthiness, afraid of what others may think of us, fear of disappointment if we don’t obtain our goals, until we change our associations around our goals there is no hope for attaining our dreams.
Fear of the Pain of Not Attaining Your Goals
Taking the time to really experience what would it be like to not attain my most cherished desires and goals to work with my fears in this direction is tapping into a powerful force. If our natures is to avoid that which we fear then why not turn this tendency on its ear. Rather than be motivated by my fear of failure, I switch this to my fear of not attaining my most cherished goals. If I envision a life where I do not attain my dreams and what that would feel like and look like, I now working with fear rather than against it.
Resistance Makes Fear Stronger
There is a saying what we resist persists. My resistance to my fears will only make them stronger. When I simply change my associations in regards to what I fear now I am harnessing the power to this powerful emotion which moves me in the direction of my dreams.
You Can Take this Process to a Whole Another Level by Releasing Your Fears
You can take this process to a whole another level by releasing your fears through investigative process of asking yourself, “Is this true?” Also, through meditation and clearing that which is not of the truth of who we really are we have can release deep seated fears. I will save this topic for other posts.
Work Your Fears to Your Advantage
However, working your fears to your advantage can move you forward in your life’s journey and the power of simply changing our associations has the power use this energy to move mountains.

I think that it is normal that we have fears that we are trying to avoid in our lives. But I guess, we can transform this fears as our motivations to continue with the goals that we have set. As what was stated, fears hold us back from taking action in moving forward. Risking, as for me, is part of our life. If we dare to ask, move and continue, we can see progress.

Hey Faith, great post… loved Katie’s video and how she used real examples to make the point, that really helped me get it.
I find that fear sometimes creeps in at important chapter changes. Action and motion usually reveal that I am just fine, nothing to fear!

Aloha Faith,
Oh yes, Fear plays a big role in every one deciding to make changes or take action. I totally agree with Katie about changing our associations. This changes everything!
Also, quiet time or meditation does really help as all Fears are false as Val stated.
Thank you so much for your wonderful article!

Faith,
Unfortunatley we allow fears to hold us back in many areas of our lives. Even knowing that F.E.A.R. stands for False Evidence Appearing Real may not stop fear from showing up. Empowering ourselves through meditation and learning is a great way to build our confidence. Great summary,
