The Four Pillars to Network Marketing Success

We often talk about what it takes to be successful in Network Marketing. The 4 Pillars are the foundation to any successful person in this industry.
Most of the time they are list in this order:
1. Belief in the Products
2. Belief in the Company
3. Belief in the Industry
4. Belief in Yourself
How do you acquire all of these? Do you need long training sessions? Hours of research and study? Is there some hidden secret formula that will magically transform you into a Network Marketer with all the confidence and skills?
We like to overcome the toughest of these first. Well, toughest if you don’t consider “Belief in Yourself” as the hardest. We can take care of this belief in self by having you experience success.
Before we talk about how to do this part, let’s look at the first two: “Belief in the Products” and “Belief in the Company”.
Believing in the products is usually the easiest. Someone you know is using them, experiencing results and benefits that you would like to have too. You experience the products and your belief goes up. Done. Simple. Starting new Associates on the products is often the way most people get others started, as a wholesale user. There is nothing wrong with this. We need lots of consumers and customers. Converting this user into a “Business Builder” does not happen easily. Though excited about the products and the fact that they may share them with others does not, in most cases, create true duplication and independent Associates. You may even find yourself with “Dependent” Associates.
To acquire belief in the Company we often rely on the belief of others we know and respect. This is part of the way Network Marketing works. Referrals are the number one best way to build almost all businesses. Think of it, you ask your friends for a good Real Estate Agent, Stock Broker, best Butcher, where to get and do just about everything. We trust this over a hit and miss guess. We also acquire belief in the Company by visiting the offices, going to events, receiving a check that never fails to arrive and be good.
These first two “Beliefs” are usually easy once someone decides to join you and at least use the products. We want to believe in things, be part of something good. The “Honeymoon” starts…. But product users without the other important Pillars, especially number 4, are fickle. If anything changes in their life or with the Company or Products they can be “gone”.
Believing in yourself and giving yourself permission to be, do and have more in your life, to dream and move toward those dreams can be the sticking point for many people. We see it all the time. Someone gets excited, starts moving with new found energy toward the goals they had put on the back burner, then suddenly it fades away and stops. The fear of failure, the judgement of others around them, and the desire to “fit in” and be accepted by their friends can pull them back into their “status quo”. Local and Company Events can temporarily turn this around. But the excitement wears off in a few days or weeks. Don’t get me wrong. Events are needed and serve a purpose. Booking to the next event at every event is important to help move the energy along and support the Team and potential new Associates…
How do we stop the large oscillations and yoyo effects and calm that down into a more even and steady process that keeps moving toward the goal?
We start with building the “Belief in the Industry” first. No matter which or all of the other 3 the new Associate has acquired this one can take them out of the game. They may still use the products, and even share them from time to time. But this person, still an important part of your business and overall sales volume, is not going to be a Business Builder by choice.
It can be exhausting to have too many “Dependent” Associates. We want self motivated individuals on our Team. Some (many) trainers and teachings within the Network Marketing Industry will teach you to just say; “Next” and keep sponsoring. Keep going until you find a “Leader”. Ok, I’ll concede you need to pay attention to your Team and make sure you nurture the “go getters”. It is a well known fact that you, personally, cannot work with more than 5 people at a time. By this I mean “5 Personally Enrolled” Associates. If you are doing your job right you will be working with their contacts, then those people’s contacts, and those… You get the idea. You will be busy! You don’t need to sponsor 20, 50 , 100 people.
How do we get these first 5 and how do we get them to take action, simple action, that anyone can do and to open up their list of top friends and truly duplicate?
We educate them on the Industry first! Once they understand what it is and what it is not, most people get excited! They realize it is one of the last great opportunities that anyone can do! They are much more “bullet proof” and won’t be so easily swayed by those who discount the industry, don’t understand it and “parrot” what they “heard” about it.
How do we educate? We use a tools and a system. We don’t tell them all about the products, company, the money they will make… We ask a few simple questions, give them the tool (if they qualify), and shut up. Most people talk themselves out of a sale or sponsoring a new Associate! Let the tool do the educating. But only ask them to take a small step. Do a little bit. The more you talk, the longer you take to present and the more you try and “sell”, the more the person you are talking to is going to think “I can’t do what you are doing” or ” I don’t have time”.
Once someone understands the Industry and expresses an interest in moving forward you have someone you can work with who will acquire the other 3 Pillars as they move forward.
So back to “Belief in Yourself”…
Do you think helping someone to become successful, and they start having and doing the things they only dreamed about, will build self confidence? I think so. People naturally feel better about themselves when they have more income, better health and get to do the things they truly want to do, not have to do.
Yes, you need a great product, yes you need a good (great) company and yes you want people who are self confident and proactive. By building the core belief in the Network Marketing Industry first you will have set the ball in motion to take care of the other beliefs. You will have a more sold Team, work less, have better results and begin to experience the promise of Network Marketing; To give you time, money and health to enjoy life and do whatever you want!

Not just network marketing, the rules apply to any form of marketing, you will never make a lot of money of you do not really believe in the product you’re selling, nor if you lack real self belief … but when you believe in both the cash will come in …

Not a big fan of network marketing, although I know it’s possible to make tons of money with it as long as the company is legitimate.

I got to agree that if you are helping someone succeed and be successful, that will definitely boost your self confidence and raise the amount of ‘belief’ that you have in yourself as a person. It takes a lot of work to be successful in network marketing but if you believe, then you can
