I don’t about you but I can be a bit impatient at times with my marketing. Sometimes I want to have built huge exposure overnight and a huge following but like the tortoise and the hare story, the tortoise approach to your marketing has a huge payoff. It is easy to be tempted to throw money at your marketing to hurry it along and yet in the long run content is king on the web. Organic marketing builds your marketing on a solid and enduring foundation.
My definition of organic marketing versus traditional outbound marketing is that you are relying on good content and utilizing social media to get your message out to the market place by offering tremendous value to your readers. Traditionally marketing was ruled by those who had the biggest wallets and the ability to get their messages out to the market place over and over again. It relied on a one directional approach where organic marketing is dynamic and is multi-directional and when done properly invites the participation of all.
Providing valuable content built over time, inviting discussion, input of others, collaboration ensures that in the long run you will be supporting numerous other authors and contributors on the web as well as your audience. As your content gets found by other bloggers and information providers on the web, every inbound link to your website is there forever. All your content is there and every time others refer to your posts, articles, videos and podcasts your web presence spreads throughout the internet and this process keeps building upon itself. It just keeps getting better over time.
This is called inbound marketing and it is also called by another name attraction marketing. Through valuable and helpful content you are bringing in traffic and attracting a loyal following.
When you utilize outbound marketing in terms of ads, PPC/ pay per click advertising and you stop your advertising efforts the benefits stop. This type of marketing does not create an enduring asset for your business. Inbound marketing can last a life time and simply gets stronger and stronger over time. The more amazing content you create the better it gets. Optimizing for the search engines and building up a following on social networks like Facebook and Twitter stoke the fires of your inbound marketing.
So remember when you start to feel impatient with your progress and marketing efforts, persevere. Ever notice when going by a construction site for a huge new highrise that often you can go for months by the site and simply see a hole in the ground and then one day seemingly out of nowhere you see a huge structure before your eyes. Inbound organic marketing is much the same way, you build your foundation with great content, building connections through social media, supporting other content providers and before you know it you are getting found on the web by people truly interested in your content and your products and services.
I recommend an amazing and practical book called “Inbound Marketing Get Found Using Google, Social Media and Blogs”. I will write a review on this book in a future post but for now simply go out and read this book. Just amazing and information is on almost every page that you can put into practice right away in your marketing.
Build a lasting and thriving business by utilizing inbound marketing and join the internet revolution.
