Blog World Expo, The New Media Becoming the New Standard

We are here at the Blog World Expo and New Media Show in Las Vegas NV. Phenomenal event and it makes me realize that we are truly at a nexus point of where Social Media and the New Media is and where it is going. The show was smaller than I expected and without a doubt we will see this venue grow exponentially over the next several years. If I heard correctly this is the third year of the Blog World Expo.

I’m just now getting back to my hotel room and it is 1:40 AM here in Vegas. I will be keeping this particular post short since I do want to get my beauty sleep. I want to comment on Leo Laporte’s closing keynote address.

Historically Media has been a top down organization with those who owned the media channels influencing the editorial slants of what and how news and information is covered. Social Media has evolved over the last few years to create an interactive forum that allows those receiving the information to participate on a number of levels. Starting with blogs, RSS Feeds, Forums and now with the rapid growth of Facebook and Twitter the conversation is no longer one directional and is not even limited to two way conversations, now the conversation can be multi-directional involving any number of individuals who want to participate.

I find this thrilling and this dynamic has the opportunity to allow all of us to participate and explore topics and issues which may have been marginalized by mainstream media.

The last mainstay of traditional media has been getting our information on the public’s television sets.  This is about to change. Media Fly is making it possible for you and me to video blog our content onto the television sets throughout the world with push button ease. Leo Laporte new enterprise Twit TV in conjunction with Media Fly now have his shows being available on TV with high quality via the web in a way which is accessible to the average person.

Even with all the advances in Social Media it was not considered main stream and now this is changing. The New Media is quickly becoming The Media of Choice.  Our new emerging 2.0 web is creating a dynamic along with advancing technology that will give anyone access who has the desire to get their message out all over the world.

The New Media which is fast becoming The Media provides news and information to their audience, when and how they want it. There will be multitude of ways to get your information from RSS, Email, Pod Cast, Video Casts, iTunes, Website, Blog, Download to your MP3 player and your Television.

Information on your terms in your favorite format. Given the late hour now it is 2:00 AM in Vegas, I am going to do additional post on this most fascinating evolution in Media. Great meeting an array of amazing individuals at the Blog World Expo and boy do they throw some fabulous parties. I look forward to next year’s event.
